Generator Oil and Filters

Generator oil filters are significant components in generators that help to reduce friction and wear and tear of internal parts, ensuring the smooth operation of the generator. They are designed to remove any harmful particles or debris from the oil that feeds the generator’s internal system, such as dust, metal shavings, soot, and other contaminants.

The filters are primarily cylindrical in shape and are typically made from a filter element encased in a metal body. The filter element is most commonly composed of synthetic, cellulose, or blended media which are folded in a pleated style to increase the filter's overall surface area. Oil is circulated into the filter through inlet ports and the particulate matter is trapped in the filter medium while the clean oil exits the filter through the outlet ports.
