The 2009 - 12 Airstream Interstate Plumbing system is a well-designed mechanism that efficiently handles water supply and waste management in the RV. It comprises of a fresh water tank that supplies clean water for cooking, cleaning and bathing purposes. It also includes sophisticated wastewater tanks to separately handle grey water and black water.

Grey water comes from sinks and showers, while black water is discharged from the toilet. To ensure a seamless flow, every sink, shower and toilet is connected to a drain line that further extends to the two separate wastewater tanks.

This model features a water heater, designed for providing warm water for bathing and washing, especially during non-summer months. With the press of a switch, the water heater can be activated allowing about 6 gallons of heated water at a time in most units.

A critical part of the Airstream Interstate Plumbing system is its efficient water pump. In locations where city water hook-up is not available, this water pump effectively draws water from the freshwater tank and supplies it through the system.

For supplying water directly from an external source, the system comes with a city water inlet. Furthermore, it has a bypass valve for winterizing, which allows you to divert antifreeze from entering the water heater.

Maintenance of this plumbing system is relatively easy. The freshwater tank needs to be sanitized regularly, the wastewater tanks need to be emptied promptly, and all pipes and valves need to be kept in proper working condition to prevent leakage.
